Leaving home for a new academic adventure can be a nerve-wracking experience, but the “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star claims she has nothing to fear because she’ll have a familiar face by her side. The teenager talks about his university plans.
While promoting their WEtv series, “Mama June: From Not to Hot,” the young entertainer opened up about her future and how her boyfriend of nearly three years has a special place in it.
The McIntyre native, who graduated from high school in May, revealed she will study Nursing at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. However, the social media influencer will not live like other students as he leaves the college hostel to be with his lover.
“I am moving from the campus for security reasons and because Dralin is coming with me,” the TV personality quipped. According to Honey Boo Boo, convincing her 21-year-old lover to leave her hometown for a new place was not a challenge.
“I think he’s more excited to move there than I am. He’s ready to get out of our small town and experience something new, too,” said the TLC alumnus. Carswell’s eagerness to cohabitate with Thompson may not be just for the chance to leave Georgia, as this opportunity marks the couple’s first time living together.
Responding to the big relationship move, the former “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” contestant gushed to ET Online: “I think it’s going to be good for us, honestly, and I think it’s going to be fun. Even if I move halfway across the country, it will be good for me.”
Moving in together marks the lovers’ first step in their happy plans. Despite the four-year age gap, they both committed to building a lasting bond and began thinking about children.
However, raising children is not a bridge that future TV personalities want to cross. Explaining that she wants to prioritize her career, Alana lamented: “I don’t want kids, and he does. I want to stay in Colorado long enough to work in nursing after school.”
Given the seriousness of their relationship, when asked if she believed her boyfriend was Mr. Right, the 17-year-old revealed his doubts. “I can’t say that because I don’t know what happens in life, but I hope,” he said.

While the McIntyre native is uncertain about his future with Carswell, the media personality is confident about his college goals. Thompson expressed his excitement for a new experience at Regis University but declared he would stay away from all distractions, especially Greek life.
“I don’t want to be part of a sorority because — and don’t go after me for saying this — all the sorority girls are stuck!” he claimed. “That’s not me. I’m not a Chanel bag kind of girl. I’ll continue my education and graduate in 2029.”

During the interview, Mama June Shannon and her daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird weighed in on the 17-year-old’s romance with Carswell. The entertainer’s sister stated that she is not against the two in a relationship as long as the 21-year-old puts Thompson’s happiness first.
“What’s important to me is that Dralin treats Alana right,” explained Efird. “He’s respectful, my kids love him, and his family is great. That’s all that matters to me.”
As for the matriarch of the family, Mama June, she warns her youngest child about the negative effects of cohabiting with a lover. While she supports their relationship, the TLC alum says Honey Boo Boo will always come first.
