A member of the honor guard collapsed on Monday while standing near the casket of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who died earlier this month and now lies in repose at the Supreme Court in Washington DC.
The terrifying incident happened during CNN’s live broadcast from the building’s Great Hall.
The cause of the collapse has not been released, and the condition of the officer is unknown.
The man’s bodyguard can be seen faltering as his colleagues try to restrain him.
He then collapsed to the floor as others rushed to his aid.
“Oh, oh,” said the announcer in shock at the incident. “We are now watching this live with you.”
To honor his pioneering career, the Supreme Court held a closed session Monday morning with speakers Justice Sonia Sotomayor and the Rev. Jane Fahey.
