Doctors at an Ohio hospital propped up a dying patient in a “false life” pose before he was seen by his family — even though he had died during routine surgery two hours earlier, according to a lawsuit.
The patient, an unidentified 65-year-old woman, was in “good health” when she walked into the Adena Health System in Chillicothe for what was supposed to be a routine cardiac catheterization, the Scioto Valley Guardian reported.
The woman’s family has claimed that there is a discrepancy between the hospital records and the death certificate regarding the time of her death.
Although her medical records indicated a time of death of 1:00 p.m., the woman’s death certificate stated 3:05 p.m. — which is when her family was brought into the room and urged to take off life support.

His family is demanding the truth behind what happened that led to his death and why he was propped up to appear “fake alive” for his family when he had been pronounced dead two hours earlier.
The woman received surgery from Dr. Jarrod Betz, a cardiologist who has faced questions before about his credentials.

Betz has performed at least three transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedures despite not being qualified to perform that particular operation, the outlet previously reported in May.
Betz allegedly cut an artery during the procedure. Although he thought he had the situation under control, the woman was still bleeding later in the ICU.
The surgery was taken over by a second cardiologist, Dr Atiq Reham. The patient later died under his care, according to medical records.
At least 31 people have come forward to accuse Betz of falsifying his credentials, the outlet reported.

An independent autopsy was requested by the family after they learned that Ben Trotter, the Ross County coroner, was an Adena employee.
Adena Health System has not commented on the matter.
