The House of Representatives is quietly investigating explicit footage recorded inside the Capitol by a lawmaker’s staff in June 2022 — more than a year before a video of a Senate aide having sex in a hearing room surfaced this month, according to a new report.
The June 2022 investigation began after allegations of “alleged inappropriate conduct” by a senior staff member in the office of Rep. And Newhouse showed up, the congressman’s spokeswoman told Semafor.
But “no conclusive evidence” of wrongdoing was found, and the staffer reportedly said he left the Washington state Republican office for good for unrelated reasons and another job this fall, according to the outlet.
The lewd report surfaced Wednesday — just days after Maryland Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin announced aide Aiden Maese-Czeropski no longer had a job in his office after the 24-year-old was accused of posting videos online of himself having sex with another man.
US Capitol Police launched an investigation into potential criminal violations shortly after the video became public this weekend.
But it’s not the first investigation into sex caught on tape at the Capitol after a separate set of videos surfaced on Snapchat in 2022, Semafor reported.

One of the videos seen by the outlet showed a man masturbating inside the House office building. Capitol House furniture and carpets are visible, and someone filming the sex act is holding a branded congressional mouse pad.
Another screenshot seen by Semafor includes two men taking part in a sex act inside the office, although their faces are not visible.
Newhouse’s office has been notified that a suspected participant in the video is on his staff.
“Once the office was notified, we immediately contacted the appropriate House entity to conduct an independent investigation,” the office reportedly said without further comment.

The employee, who has not been identified, told Semafor that he was not in the lewd video and also challenged Newhouse’s characterization of the events.
He said he learned about the investigation in June 2022 and was told a month later it concluded with “no evidence to the allegations.”
DC was shocked over the weekend when a video of Maese-Czeropski having sex in the same room where senators had questioned future Supreme Court justice and former FBI chief James Comey had testified about alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election surfaced.
Cardin said after the news broke that he was “outraged” and “disappointed” by his former assistant’s lewd actions.

“It’s a breach of trust, all of the above,” he told Fox News.
“It’s a tragic situation and it’s caused a lot of anger and frustration. I am concerned about our staff and how they feel about this and the Senate staff.”
