Although the “Simply Complicated” actor got to prove himself as a stellar actor in the 2008 musical, it came at the cost of his best friend sacrificing his chance to star in a widely watched film.
According to HOLA, David DeLuise, who plays Selena Gomez’s father in “Wizards of Waverly Place,” revealed during an interview with “Wildchat Sports” how Gomez turned down an offer to be part of the cast in the film.
If many remember, Gomez and Lovato had a pretty strong relationship back in the day when the two stars starred in “Barney & Friends” during the early years of their careers. Their bond grew stronger until they became closer during their teenage years and later acted together in the “Princess Protection Program.”
As for the kind gesture Gomez showed the “Sky Scraper” singer during the pre-production stages of the musical project, DeLuise spilled the tea, saying, “I never really said this story, but they offered Camp Rock to Selena, and she knew that if he continues, Demi will get the part.”
He continued, “He’s on it, which is great. And they’re friends. They’re on Barney’s show together.”
Lovato Fans Call Out Disney Channel For Failing To Recognize Singer
While the 30-year-old actress has contributed significantly to Disney Channel’s success following her appearances in their films, the Channel’s actions on their 40th anniversary show the level of value they place on Lovato.
According to reports, Disney, in celebration of their anniversary, compiled a list of 12 Iconic ID Wands featuring famous faces, including, “Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Raven Symone, Jonas Brothers, Brenda Song, and more.
However, an important face was not included in the tribute video, and it was none other than Lovato. It seems that this action did not surprise her supporters since the singer, in her 2021 documentary, “Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil,” revealed that when she was a teenager on the Channel, “she was raped by a fellow Disney actress. “
Disney’s failure to recognize the actress led to Lovato’s fans calling for them to delete her from the tribute and hiding replies trying to hold them accountable for the singer’s comments about the alleged rape.
