Marlon Wayans is officially a doting father of two handsome young men following his eldest son’s transition. The “Scary Movie” star ward, formerly known as Amai, now goes by the name Kai.

When the “Marlon” co-writer welcomed two children with his ex-partner Angela Zackery, he never expected his first child to be a boy. Although the change was not easy to understand or accept, the proud father began to love Kai for who he was.

The 51-year-old gushed about his new baby in a recent appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” explaining how the 23-year-old’s transition has affected their family dynamic. Marlon admitted to being in “complete denial” following Kai’s appearance but overcame his initial shock with education.

The “Naked” star’s schooling decision was evident during her conversation as she greeted Kai with love and acceptance. Unfortunately, the father of two had to work on his pronouns because he accidentally misgendered his son in an interview, but his efforts are commendable.

That’s not all! To commemorate his new status, Marlon plans to help those in a similar situation navigate the challenging road with a smile. The 51-year-old announced that his new comedy special “Rainbow Child” will focus on transition issues and hopefully ease the process for other parents of transgender children.

The “Fifty Shades of Black” star did not share the specific period of Kai’s transition, nor did he reveal when the comedy special will take place. However, in her interview, the New Yorker explained that the upcoming project will showcase her transition as a parent. In Marlon’s words:

“My transition as a parent, went from ignorance and denial to complete unconditional love and acceptance. They know I love them. They see me trying, and I’m happy, but I have to respect their wishes.”

The “Above the Rim” actress stated that she wishes her children the freedom to be themselves, stating that if she can’t accept them, how can the world love them? The doting father of two declared:

“If they can’t do that in a household with their father and mother, how can I send them out into the world with that kind of confidence? I’m so proud of them for being who they are.”

The transition isn’t the first time Marlon has supported Kai. As shared by Page Sixthe TV personality defended her son from trolls in June 2019 after writing a sweet message to the 19-year-old during Pride Month.

“Congratulations to my pride and joy. I wouldn’t change one disappointing thing about you. Love you to the moon to the moon around the sun through the galaxy and back again,” wrote the comedian’s Instagram.

Unfortunately, some criticized his support, but Marlon responded: “He’s 19 years old. He is himself until or unless he chooses something different. Love her for her, not the way I want.”

Months before announcing Kai’s transition, Marlon faced an emotional battle following the loss of his beloved father, Howell Wayans. The famous patriarch of the Wayan family died at the age of 86, leaving behind ten children.

The “GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra” actor honored his late father on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself bonding with Howell at an event. The entertainer captioned this sweet image with a lengthy caption, reflecting on how his soulmate inspired him to become the man he is today.

According to Marlon, his father always replied “just a man” whenever he asked what he wanted. Additionally, he stated, “My father said, ‘A man takes care of himself and his responsibilities. His family always comes FIRST.’ From that day on, I wanted to be a MAN.”

The “Dance Flick” star praised Howell for inspiring others, praying that the younger generation grows up to be like Howell. “If there is a heaven, I know you’re sitting in VIP sipping the best wine Jesus can make…” the comedian ended his tribute.
