Pat Sajak may have predicted his successor “Wheel of Fortune”!
Following the announcement of 48-year-old Ryan Seacrest as the replacement game host on the decades-long show, Sajak’s predictions for the event have come to light.
The longtime “American Idol” host’s name was first mentioned as a celebrity to take over after the show’s upcoming 41st season shortly after her predecessor shared news of her retirement earlier this month.
Pat Sajak May Have Predicted Ryan Seacrest’s ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Appointment
Earlier this week, Sony Pictures Television confirmed that Seacrest, who has experience as a record player and talk show host, will take over the stage of “Wheel of Fortune” from the 42nd season in 2024. Responding to the news, “Jamie Oliver’s Producer Food Revolution” shared in a statement posted to Instagram:
“I am truly honored to step in the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak. I can say, along with the rest of America, it has been a privilege and a pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel comfortable with them.”

After stating that he loves the way Sajak “always celebrates the contestants and makes the audience at home feel comfortable,” the former “Live with Kelly and Ryan” co-host stated that he is looking forward to “learning everything” he can from his predecessor ” during this transition.”
He later referred to the appointment as a “full circle moment” because one of his first jobs involved hosting a game show called “Click” for Merv Griffin, who also masterminded the creation of “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune.” “I can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White,” Seacrest concluded.
Amidst the confusing atmosphere, PEOPLE revealed that 2012 footage from the beloved game show resurfaced on social media on Wednesday. In the clip, a contestant’s request for a vowel prompts Sajak to respond, “‘You’re spinning the wheel, you’ve got to ask for a consonant.”
Realizing his mistake, the 76-year-old corrected himself, stating, “Oh wait, you’re playing free; I am a fool. You see, the way it works is if you land… It’s okay. Is there an ‘E’ in the puzzle?” The occasional actor soon faced another challenge when another contestant spun the wheel, and it landed on its way to Arizona.’
Contestants then asked for ‘N,’ prompting the Chicago-born celebrity to admit that she wasn’t sure about the letter in the puzzle. “Seacrest is on speed dial,” the father of two joked as the challenger took the letter for the ride.
The host of ‘The Pat Sajak Show’ has a job in academia after leaving
Before Seacrest was named as his successor, The Blast reported that Sajak had already lined up his next gig in academia. As it turns out, the Columbia College Chicago graduate will continue as chairman of the Hillsdale College Board of Trustees.

The conservative private academy confirmed the incident in an emailed statement from spokeswoman Emily Stack Davis. Dated Friday, June 16, Davis began the message:
“For decades, Pat Sajak has been a radio and television icon. We know he will be missed and congratulate him on his well-deserved retirement. Hillsdale College is fortunate to have a closer relationship with Mr. Sajak. Since 2019, we have benefited from his wisdom, intellect and humor as chairman of the Hillsdale board of trustees.”
He added that the school looks forward to continuing “their important work together and what we are sure will be a bright future for Mr. Sajak and his family.” The last time Hillsdale College staff publicly praised the “Airplane II: The Sequel” star was in 2019 when he was promoted to chair.
At the time, the school’s President, Larry P. Arnn, declared that Sajak “is a man of calm and sound judgment, also of wicked intelligence,” who is “devoted” to the realization of “the purpose of the college.” Likewise, the author of “Lucky Letters” raved about the promotion, claiming:
“I’m in an industry where we’re always applauding each other for the different awards we win but this one is at the top of my list.”
Sajak previously served as vice chairman of the board for 15 years.
