How Princess Eugenie & Husband Jack Brooksbank Honored Queen Elizabeth With Baby No 2 Name

The newest member of the British Royal Family has arrived as the second child of Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank.

The mother of two joins the line of heir to the throne as the youngest child of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. The 33-year-old served as the nephew of King Charles and grandson of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The Children in Crisis Ambassador recently blessed her social media followers with the first pictures of her newborn son, including a sweet photo of how her eldest son August Philip Hawke is embracing his role as a big brother.

In her latest Instagram update, the Londoner shared two photos introducing the newest member of her beautiful family. The first image captures a newborn baby sleeping comfortably; all huddled in blue knitted hats with white brims while their bodies were covered in white scarves.

“Jack and I wanted to share the news that we had our little boy, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, on May 30, 2023 at 8.49 weighing 7.1 pounds,” the Princess revealed in the caption. “He was named after my Grandfather George, Grandfather George, and Grandfather Ronald.”

“Augie loves being a big brother,” the mother-of-two concluded with a string of heart emojis. As seen in the second photo, her eldest son looks smitten with his little brother, stroking the baby’s head as the boy enjoys a nap in a giant swing.

The heartfelt post received over 400,000 likes and many congratulatory comments. Some celebrated the birth of the newest member of the royal family, while others noticed the facial resemblance between August and his cousin, Prince Archie.

“Is it just me, or does Augie look like Archie?” one wonders. “I thought it was Archie, the older one, very similar,” said another. Another commenter raved about the newborn’s cuteness, with one writing: “Congratulations Brooksbank! Little Ernest is so cute.”

“Wow, it’s been almost a week!! Congratulations to the family and welcome to the world, adorable baby Ernest,” wrote one admirer. Before Princess Eugenie shared the first photo of her son, Buckingham Palace announced the birth of Ernest.

“Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their son, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank. Ernest was born on Tuesday, May 30, and weighed 7lb 1oz,” the Palace statement said on Monday, June 5.

Ernest’s middle names, “George” and “Ronnie,” pay homage to Queen Elizabeth’s late grandfather King George V, Jack’s father, George, and his mother’s father, Ronald. The Londoner’s second son puts him 13th in line to the British throne, after his brother August.

In addition, the newborn is Queen Elizabeth’s first grandchild to arrive after the death of the longest-reigning monarch in September 2022. The boy also serves as the third grandchild of his grandparents.

The Duke and Duchess of York, who separated in 1996, welcomed their second grandchild, a granddaughter named Sienna Elizabeth, in 2021. The 1-year-old was born out of a loving relationship between the former couple’s eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

A few months before welcoming Ernest, Princess Eugenie overwhelmed her mother with the announcement of her second pregnancy. In January, the 33-year-old shared a cute outdoor photo of his eldest son pressing his face into his belly, presumably to kiss his unborn baby sister.

As August buried her face in her baby bump, the proud mother was captured smiling brightly, lovingly looking at her son. “We are so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer,” the royal captioned.

Naturally, fans took the news positively, with many sharing their congratulations and best wishes for Eugenie’s next baby. Among the commenters was Ferguson, who expressed her excitement with a red heart emoji and the words: “Granny heaven.”

The Duchess of York has also opened her Instagram page with the good news. The doting grandmother shared a photo of August wearing a yellow raincoat and splashing in puddles. “You’re going to share a puddle, Augie! Good news, Grandma heaven…. Very grateful,” the 63-year-old said in the caption.
