Howard Stern aired his thoughts on the recent British Coronation which took place over three days of lavish festivities from Saturday, May 6, to Monday, May 8.
While fans of King Charles III are undoubtedly on cloud nine over the coronation, Stern seems to disagree as he shamelessly hurled insults at the monarch for squandering funds amid the country’s economic woes.
Howard Stern Feels Disturbed Watching King Charles’ Fancy Coronation
The 69-year-old comedian has an unpleasant label for the newly crowned British monarch, and he didn’t hesitate to share it on Monday’s episode of SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show.”

He called King Charles an ap***y after criticizing his Coronation and before implying that the Royal was unworthy of the people’s adoration.
“England needs to get a hold of themselves,” Stern told co-host Robin Quivers, adding, “I understand, maybe it brings in tourism, but Jesus H. Christ. First of all, Prince Charles is ap***y.”
He said, “That’s No. 1 – and people act like – all through the ceremony, they act like the damn man went to war or something, and then beat up everybody else.”
Quivers interjects, implying that the king is being treated like he did something “great” besides being born.
With that, the Boston University alumni said, “Yes. But they were like, ‘We swear allegiance to you, and you’re a great warrior.’ I mean, the whole thing is crazy.”
He later released his reasons for his criticism, pointing to the current shaky state of the UK’s finances. “It’s disgusting,” he exclaimed. “And I’ll tell you why it’s disgusting.” Stern explained that it doesn’t take a genius to point out that the country has its own “economic problems” but spends a lot of money on the Coronation.
He added, “It’s just disgusting to see a country suffer through economic problems … and then you see the pomp and circumstance.” The author understands why the monarchy is important to England when it comes to tourism because it “provides a flavor to the country and something for people to go see.”
“It’s part of tourism. I got all that,” he explained. “I’m not naive, but it just sends the wrong message.”

Stern appears to be one of many who don’t mind the lavish withdrawal of funds amid the state of the nation’s economy. According to the BBC, several small business owners share the same view. According to the outlet, the UK Government and Buckingham Palace paid for the ceremony through the Sovereign Grant and Privy Purse.
However, given England’s economic status, it was assumed that the affair might be “reduced”. Despite the alleged “slimed down” ceremony, the estimated cost is between £50 million and £100 million.
Based on interviews with some Londoners, many in the UK seem to be struggling while the Royal family spends that much on the coronation. Such a person believes that the amount spent on the occasion is a lot and can be done on a low budget considering the modern era.
Meanwhile, the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is of the opinion that the Coronation will have a positive impact on business in terms of the economy.
The body’s head of policy, James Watkins, felt it would create the “massive stimulus” businesses needed to “get back on track” following the setback caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent rail strikes.
‘Private Parts’ Author Expresses Hatred Of Prince Harry And His Wife Documentary
Stern’s criticism of King Charles’ Coronation is not the first time he has lashed out at the British government as he once targeted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle late last year.

The Blast reports that after the couple debuted their documentary “Harry & Meghan,” the radio personality, who initially didn’t want to watch the show, became annoyed with her.
He shared, “It was very painful. I don’t — I’m not going to stay with it, but my wife wants to watch it, so, you know, we have a show that we watch, but it’s like whiny bad guys. I have to tell you, man; I just don’t understand.”
Stern went on to compare the production to “The Kardashians,” calling it boring despite sympathizing with Harry over the loss of his mother, Princess Diana.
Still, he finds no purpose in the documentary and questions what the partners hope to achieve with it.
