Amy Schumer Apologizes For Nicole Kidman Joke, Her Own Way

Amy Schumer took to her social media to offer an explanation for the joke she cracked on Nicole Kidman, during the 2023 US Open, when she implied the actress was less than human because of her stiff pose.
Schumer shared a photo of some of the text, which read, “Okay, so the joke I make is the way she poses doesn’t look like how humans sit. I’m not mocking his looks. Nicole Kidman is beautiful and one of the most incredible actresses of all time.”
Schumer’s clarification comes after she faced a backlash against cyberbullying Kidman, after she posted that 56-year-old Nicole Kidman, who had been deleted since the US Open, had a somewhat “robotic” expression. In the shot, Kidman is sitting cross-legged with her elbows on her legs, resting her chin on her hands, watching the game with intense concentration. Schumer poked fun at the wide-eyed pose, captioning the since-deleted post, “This is how humans sit.”
Instagram users slammed the 42-year-old Schumer in the comments section, wondering why she targeted Kidman and mocked her. One Instagram user asked, “Are you cyberbullying Oscar and Emmy winner Nicole Kidman right now?” Another exclaimed, “Wow so bad! I wish one of my favorite comedians had more respect for other people’s feelings than this.”
Schumer later posted an “apology,” this time taking aim at Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, writing, “I want to apologize to everyone I hurt by posting a photo of Nicole Kidman and referring to her as an alien. I’m going to ask the cast of the 70’s show -an to write a letter to beg for my forgiveness.” He also hashtagged “taketimetoheal” in the same post, but deleted it later. The sharp-eyed Twitter site saw it and spread it further.
He later deleted this post as well.

Although the “pic” contained a more humble tone, Schumer was back to being the funny girl she was in the caption, as she continued to address her fans, “I hope everyone is doing well and taking a deep breath including all the thought pieces written on top of this . are you good?”
Schumer then monologued, writing, “To everyone who commented on me. I’m sorry I’m not prettier. Please forgive me. I’m sorry. It’s not a slow news day. North Korea and Russia are too close for comfort. There’s a deadly storm that hit our world and a man was convicted of rape. But what caused your goat is me saying that Nicole Kidman’s pose is not human.
After “apologising,” Schumer also went on to forgive trolls and haters, writing, “Breathe y’all. To the people who write hateful things below I forgive you as a mother, a woman, and most importantly as a person also love hot gossip. Have a great weekend!”
A fan asked him, “How dare you make a joke – what makes you think you’re a joker?”

Now AGT fans may not always agree with Howie Mandel, especially since his antics have made Sofia Vergara a little touchy recently, but he’s talking about Amy Schumer.
Mandel commented, on Schumer’s post, “You shouldn’t be put in a position to explain comedy. You are and always will be a treasure. A sense of humor is hard to come by. Anyone who doesn’t get you will lose this treasure you always share. You shouldn’t feel like you have to defend yourself because of their inability to understand and enjoy.”
Then came this little gem, “Wonder why you, as a comedian, think it’s OK to make jokes? Think about all the impressionable young aspiring comedians out there… are they supposed to make jokes too? What’s next? Teacher teaching? Doctor doctor? Am I just supposed to let my dentist fix my teeth?!?! WHERE IS THE END. But also, an apology is accepted.”
