HS student faces charges after beating up teacher, 65, in viral video: cops

A Missouri high school student is facing criminal charges after a heartbreaking viral video showed him struggling and repeatedly punching his 65-year-old teacher, landing him in the hospital.

A clip viewed more than 1.3 million times on X by Friday showed the St. educator. Louis on the floor trying hard to protect himself from the student standing over him and punching him in the head.

The Normandy High School student continued to punch and slap the teacher even as he rolled over on top of him, fisting the educator between his legs as other students gasped in shock at the fight in the hallway.

The two continued to wrestle on the floor before several students tried to pull the girl off the teacher, who rose to her feet only to fall back down.

A male teacher intervened shouting, “Stop! Stop!” while another student took the screaming girl away.

The student faces criminal charges over the viral fight, police said.

The second clip shows the girl with her back to him in the corridor with her wrists crossed, as if convulsing, with someone trying to make sure she doesn’t choke.

Students said the fight started when the teacher confronted the girl for going to her locker to get medication, which is to help with seizures, according to Trending Politics co-owner Collin Rugg, one of those who share recordings.

“Our school system is a mess,” he said.

Footage shows the unidentified teenager slapping and punching the 65-year-old teacher. The teenager has not been identified.

However, the teacher’s partner, Greg Stanton, told KSDK that when he visited her in the hospital, he did not know why she was attacked.

“He was badly injured,” he said of his partner, who has not been identified but is recovering from his injuries.

“He really can’t talk. he [doesn’t] understand why” he was attacked, he said. “He is crying.”

The teacher was hospitalized and is still recovering, his partner said.

It was unclear whether the student was also hospitalized following an apparent seizure.

Police St. Louis confirmed to KSDK that they will seek criminal charges against the unidentified teenager in juvenile court.

Normandy schools told The Post on Friday that it was “addressing” the incident.

Normandy School officials said they are “getting on top” of the incident. Google Maps

“The administration takes this matter seriously, and is cooperating fully with local law enforcement,” he said in a statement.

“In addition, we have launched an internal investigation to gather all the necessary facts about the incident, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of this investigation.

“The safety and well-being of our students and staff is of the utmost importance to the Normandy School Collective, and our primary focus is to provide a safe and nurturing space for students to learn and for teachers to educate,” he added.
