This isn’t the first time the son of the WWE star has been involved with the law as he was involved in a car accident in the 2000s. He was a teenager at the time, but the accident happened in Clearwater, FL — the same town as this latest arrest.

At the time of the 2000s arrest, Nick, 17 at the time, was driving with a friend, whom he met in Marin. John Graziano suffered a serious brain injury from the car accident, but luckily, he survived.

At the time, Hogan told PEOPLE“[Nick] was moving through life and maybe not appreciating something … When this happened, it was a complete 180 turn. … It was the best thing that ever happened to him. I’m not saying it’s a good thing. But it happened for a reason.”

Nick Hogan eventually pleaded no contest to reckless driving involving serious bodily injury. Police officials claimed alcohol was involved, although that was never confirmed. He served 8 months.

In 2010, per PEOPLE, Nick talks about a car accident during an appearance on Good Morning America, stated, “My brother John, we almost lived together and I just remember knowing how bad everything was. It’s still hard for me to think about it,” he said of his friend, who at the time of the interview still needed round-the-clock care. “I pray every day that I can face it. It’s still at this point too much to think about. It’s something I carry with me every day.”
