Human skull found in pond by 13-year-old belongs to man who tried to kill wife in 2004

The eerie discovery of a 13-year-old boy’s skull in a Pennsylvania pond two years ago took a darker turn Wednesday — when prosecutors revealed the body belonged to a man who tried to kill his wife more than 20 years ago.

Dylan Bond came across the skull in April 2022 while he was searching for frogs, and the skull was later sent to Mercyhurst University for analysis, according to reports.

The Berks County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday that the body has been identified as Pottstown resident Roger Hart, who is accused of trying to kill his partner in April 2004 before he went to the lam.

The human skull was ID’d as belonging to attempted murderer Robert Hart, authorities said. America’s Most Wanted

Shortly after he fled, Hart’s car was later found near a reservoir with the keys and wallet still inside, Fox 43 reported. He has not been seen since the discovery.

Mercyhurst University determined the skull belonged to a man and had been in the body of water for more than 10 years, prosecutors said, according to the outlet.

Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI later put the skull through advanced DNA testing, which helped lead to Hart’s identification.

The cause of death could not be determined due to the condition of the skull and lack of other skeletons.

Bond was outside near his aunt and uncle’s house two years ago when he made the discovery.

“I hit something on my toe and I looked down and I couldn’t see it,” the boy told ABC 6 at the time. “But I scooped it up with my stick, and at first, I thought it was a turtle.”

“I’m scared … I’ve only been here for two days,” he said later to find out what it really was. “I never thought I’d come across a human skull.”
