Hunter Biden demands DOJ probe into ex-business partner Tony Bobulinski: report

First son Hunter Biden has asked the Justice Department to investigate allegations that his former business partner Tony Bobulinski lied to federal investigators about his relationship with the first family, according to a report.

The demand for an investigation came in a letter sent to DC US Attorney Matthew Graves last month by Biden’s lawyer, accusing Bobulinski of abusing his relationship with and contacting the Biden family “in order to discredit his character and reputation [Hunter] Biden and his family, and to boost his own self-esteem,” according to ABC News.

The letter, written by the 53-year-old eldest son’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, also alleges Bobulinski misled FBI investigators in October 2020 about the extent to which President Biden benefited from his family’s foreign business dealings.

“Even in an era where peddlers aim to have their falsehoods repeated and propagated for their political advantage, this statement by Mr. Bobulinski cannot and must not be tolerated,” Lowell wrote, according to the outlet.

The letter also alleges Bobulinski misled FBI investigators in October 2020 about the extent to which President Biden benefited from his family’s foreign business dealings.

Bobulinski, a US Navy veteran, alleged a month before the 2020 presidential election that Joe Biden was involved in his son and brother Jim Biden’s dealings with Chinese energy company CEFC, which reportedly paid the Bidens $4.8 million in 2017 and 2018.

Bobulinski claimed that he spoke with Joe Biden about the CEFC deal related to the Chinese government and that the candidate was referred to as a “big man” because of the 10% cut in new corporate entities.

Another business associate of Hunter Biden, James Gilliar, also identified Joe Biden as a “big guy.”

Lowell claimed Bobulinski was “making things up” and argued that Bobulinski “had no basis in fact to assert that there was a reference to a ‘big man’ or that it was not his own reflection or that it was a reference to Vice President Joe Biden.”

The letter was sent to US Attorney Matthew Graves who accused Bobulinski of abusing his ties and ties to the BidenAP family

He further claimed in the letter that Bobulinski did not attend the 2017 meeting in Miami where Hunter Biden, CEFC chairman Ye Jianming and others initially discussed the China deal.

“If Hunter Biden and the Biden family are so determined to make sure the full truth is presented to the American People, Hunter, Jim, Joe and I should all appear together before Congress, publicly and under oath,” Bobulinski told ABC News in a statement. “They can name the date, time and place and I’m certainly willing to do that for the American people.”

He added that the content of Lowell’s letter was “absolutely false” and accused the Biden family of “trying to weaponize the DOJ against me.”

The Republican-led House Oversight Committee accused Hunter Biden’s legal team of trying to intimidate a potential Joe Biden impeachment witness by sending the letter.

“Hunter Biden and his legal team are once again attacking anyone who speaks out against Biden,” Oversight Committee said in X’s post. “This time, their target is Tony Bobulinski, a potential witness in our investigation.

“We will not tolerate witness intimidation. The truth will soon come out despite the threatening tactics of the Biden team. We will give Hunter a chance to clear the air and talk to us soon.”
