Hunter Biden remains in ‘good standing’ with DC Bar Association despite felony indictments

Hunter Biden remains in “good standing” with the District of Columbia Bar Association, despite facing multiple criminal charges.

Biden is a lawyer by training if not by trade, having graduated from Yale Law School in 1996. He was admitted to the DC bar in 2007.

The bar’s official stamp of approval came despite Biden apparently violating the bar’s own code of professional conduct.

“It is professional misconduct for a lawyer to commit a criminal act that reflects on the lawyer’s honesty, trustworthiness, or suitability as a lawyer in other respects,” the bar notes in its official rules.

“Many types of unlawful conduct reflect fitness to practice law, such as offenses involving fraud and the offense of willful failure to file an income tax return,” the rule notes.

Hunter Biden has a long history of drug and alcohol abuse that violates the DC bar code of conduct.

The Eldest Son faces multiple criminal charges stemming from allegations that he evaded more than $1 million in income taxes that helped fund years of “extravagant” living, according to special counsel David Weiss. He now faces up to 17 years in prison.

A criminal conviction is not required for bar discipline. Former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani’s DC bar status is now suspended as punishment for his role in trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election. He has not been convicted of a crime.

Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz said Biden’s various legal problems “should be investigated” by lawyers.

“He has admitted to behavior that might constitute criminal behavior, drug use and things like that, so I think the attorneys need to look into that,” said the veteran lawyer. “There is a double standard. Bar discipline has been weaponized by the left against the right.”

Hunter Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, did not respond to a request for comment from The Post.

Hunter Biden pays $331 annually to maintain his active membership in the bar. He never actively practiced law in DC but held a comfortable “counsel” position at the Democratic law firm Boies Schiller Flexner LLP while his father was vice president.
