Hurricane Ian Knocked One Reporter Off His Feet, Had Another Using A Condom On Her Mic!

Weather reporting is front and center this week and without a dull moment thanks to Hurricane Ian.

Some people don’t take weather warnings seriously until veteran meteorologist Jim Cantore visits their area. Then they knew it was going to be real. And that’s exactly what happened when the reporter was hit by a tree branch flying directly in the air.

During a live broadcast on Wednesday, The Weather Channel reporter proved to viewers that the situation was serious as he was in 110 mph winds in Punta Gorda. “Yes, this is extreme,” he said, standing in the middle of the street. Moments later, he was seen pushed by a strong wind and fell to the ground after being hit by a flying tree branch.

Not much can stop this guy. After he got back up, he said, “Well, you know, I think I’ll come in here for a second,” and then he picked up a street sign to brace himself. After assuring his team that he was fine, he said it was difficult to “stand up” because of the wind. “I’m just, I’ll let you see the pictures, OK? And I will stand behind this wall for a bit,” he said after successfully returning. He was then heard adding, “That must have been our strongest gust. That one took my breath away.”

“It Is What You Think”

Another TV news reporter has people scratching their heads after seeing his broadcast in Naples, Florida. The audience noticed something odd about his microphone and started asking questions. NBC’s Kyla Galer said in a clip shared online, “A lot of people ask what’s on my microphone. It’s what you think it is – it’s a condom!” He added, “It helps protect the gear. We can’t get these mics wet. There’s a lot of wind, there’s a lot of rain, so we have to do what we have to do, and that’s put a condom on the microphone.”

Galer asked people to talk online and wondered if they saw what they thought they saw. According to Newsweek, Reddit user @PuzzleHead1122 shared a screenshot of a reporter holding a microphone and asked the question, “Does a microphone cover usually come with a nipple on top? Or is that a modified cover aka a condom? Over 2,000 people chimed in with the majority confirming that it is a condom .Twitter account Hard Factor also posted pictures of the interesting situation.
