In a recent interview with PEOPLE magazine, Cooper teased that he might want to expand his family even further with a third child.

In the interview, the “Anderson Cooper 360” host admitted that he’s open to welcoming a third child into his family, but it might not happen right away. “I love the idea,” he told the magazine. “But nothing is planned.”
Cooper welcomed Sebastian in February this year and co-parents her children with her friend and ex-partner, Benjamin Maisani, 49. During the interview, Cooper admitted that it was easier to welcome a second child into the family when she was already have experience raising Wyatt.

“Logically, it’s more challenging because they’re on different nap schedules and there’s different feeding schedules, but you know the shortcuts, how to fold diapers the right way and do the milk,” she explained.
She also talked about how “amazing” it is to see her two sons together, adding that Wyatt has been “so sweet” to his little brother. “Every morning he wants to go and smell the baby,” Cooper revealed. “You forget how quickly they’ve changed and seeing Sebastian and Wyatt together… it’s truly amazing.”

When he was still a child himself, Anderson Cooper lost his own father, actor and writer Wyatt Cooper, after he died unexpectedly during open heart surgery at the age of 50. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning of the loss Cooper would experience in his family.
Ten years after his father died, his brother, Carter, took his own life at the age of 23 by jumping from the terrace of his mother’s 14th-floor apartment in New York City. Three years ago, his mother, the legendary heiress and fashion designer Gloria Vanderbilt, died of stomach cancer at the age of 95.

Although he has tried to avoid dealing with the grief of loved ones his entire life, Cooper said that he realized he had to deal with his feelings head-on when he became a father.
“I don’t want to pass on to my children any of my own failures or limitations,” she told the magazine. “I want to be the best parent I can be, and I realize that the way I dealt with the loss worked for the time it happened, but it catches up with you. You have to deal with it at some point.”

Cooper Has Created His Own Podcast To Discuss Themes Of Grief And Loss With His Fans

In his new podcast, “All There Is With Anderson Cooper,” he actually explores the themes of loss and grief, noting that it’s “not really talked about openly.” He says, “I realized this is something we all go through or will go through in one way or another,” which prompted him to create the podcast.
Despite the loss he has experienced in his life, Cooper adds that fatherhood is his greatest joy in life. She told the magazine, “All my life I’ve dreamed of having children. It puts everything into perspective and develops you in a wonderful, magical way.”
