What’s in the box! Or, what’s in that briefcase?
A Kansas man claims he was stopped by a TSA agent because of an early Christmas present his grandmother told him not to open until he arrived in California.
Brett Gaffney took to TikTok moments after his prize, which was a large briefcase, tripped one of the airport detectors as he headed to the Golden State over the Thanksgiving holiday.
“I was stopped [by] airport security, and you know what it is because this briefcase my grandmother gave me as an early Christmas present, and she said don’t open it until you get to California,” Gaffney said, holding the brown briefcase.
“I was like, ‘What’s in that briefcase? It’s so heavy,'” Gaffney said she asked her grandmother. “Just wait until you get there,” to which the grandmother replied, she said.

“I was like, ‘Grandma, I’m going to the airport, like I need to know,'” Gaffney continued.
When Gaffney arrived at the airport and got to the security checkpoint, he claims the TSA immediately tagged his briefcase.
“They asked me what was in there, and I said I don’t know, I don’t know,” Gaffney recalled. “They said, ‘What do you mean? You’re carrying a briefcase, and you don’t know what’s in it?”’

Gaffney told the agent the gift was a surprise and then opened two gold clasps from the brown suitcase to reveal a vintage typewriter.
“Who am I Tom Hanks?’ Am I going to go to the park and…write an entire book on a typewriter?” Gaffney joked, referring to the legendary actor who owned 250 typewriters.
In the update, Gaffney showed viewers a clip of him using a vintage typewriter after cleaning it and getting paper for it.

The audience praised Gaffney’s loyalty in keeping his word and refusing to open the suitcase at first.
“I feel like the words “I don’t know, this is a surprise” shouldn’t be said to TSA, let alone in one sitting ?,” one joked.
“The fact that you listened and didn’t open it is so innocent,” commented another reply.
“There’s still a Great American novel to write and now you have the tools.??♀️??,” said one cheerful commenter.
