Iana is a famous Ukrainian-German ballet dancer. Salenko joined the Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theater as a soloist after graduation. He moved to the Kyiv Ballet as a principal dancer two years later to be closer to his family. Salenko went to an audition for the Berlin State Ballet, where she met her future husband Marian Walter. Vladimir Malakhov, the company’s director, initially rejected it. Diana Vishneva persuaded Malakhov to allow Salenko to join the company. He was hired as a soloist in 2005 and was promoted to soloist the following year.
Salenko was promoted to principal dancer in 2007 after starring in the film Cinderella. He was a principal dancer in several shows, including Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. She portrayed Aurora in Nacho Duato’s original production of Sleeping Beauty. His regular partners included Walter and Daniil Simkin.
