To express his grief, Ice-T, who played Detective Odafin Tutuola on the long-running NBC series, shared a tweet that reflected their friendship and collaboration over the years. The rapper shared a photo of him and the late star standing side by side at the tribute read:

“Highs and Lows… After one of the most amazing weeks of my life. I woke up to the news that I lost my friend today. Belz is gone.. Damn! But remember this..’ When you are having fun and really Happy. ENJOY it to the fullest! Because Pain will surely come.’ I will miss you, Homie ?.”

Christopher Meloni also joined in paying tribute to their fallen colleagues by sharing throwback photos on his Instagram page. The caption read, “Richard “The Belz” Belzer. A beautiful soul, a neat groomer, with the spirit of a child. Never met anyone like him, and I never will. Your last words helped make death you are more acceptable.

Former “SVU” showrunner Warren Leight tweeted a video of Belzer and Hargitay in character from 2016 as part of his tribute. Above the video, he written:

“Richard Belzer was the first actor to welcome me when I started on SVU. Open, warm, acerbic, whip smart, kind. I love writing for Munch, and I love being with Belz. We have a feeling this will be his parting scene. God willing, Belz..”

Belzar’s longtime friend, writer Bill Scheft told Hollywood Reporter that he died at his home in Bozouls, southwestern France, on Sunday after battling several health problems. He also shared his last words, “Fu*k you, motherfu*ker.”

Born on August 4, 1944, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, his comedic tendencies stemmed from the rough childhood he shared with his older brother, Len, because their mother used to beat them.
