Fears of a multi-front war rose in Israel on Wednesday as IDF soldiers exchanged fire with Hezbollah terrorists along the Lebanese border while Israeli forces continued to attack Gaza by land, sea and air in their bid to eliminate Hamas.
Israeli warplanes bombed Hezbollah military bases and other locations inside Lebanon, sending huge plumes of smoke into the sky on the northern border.
The latest attack comes after several days of missile and rocket attacks directed by Hezbollah against targets in northern Israel.
“Hezbollah and its Iranian warlord patron are dragging Lebanon into a completely unnecessary war, into a war that Hamas started. Our territory is not fit for a wider war,” an Israeli government spokesman, Eylon Levy, in a statement today.

One of the victims was identified as an Australian citizen who had traveled to Lebanon to visit his wife and bring her back to Australia.
Hezbollah – which is backed by Iran and allied with Hamas – escalated the conflict on Wednesday by firing its most rockets and kamikaze drones at Israel in a single day since the conflict broke out.

In Gaza on Wednesday, Israel expanded its ground offensive into the central and southern parts of the crowded territory, killing dozens of people and forcing thousands to flee, according to Palestinian health officials.
