Career
Samsonov, who grew up in Magnitogorsk, Russia, made his Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) debut as a reliever with Metallurg Magnitogorsk during the 2014-15 season. Samsonov was considered the best European goaltender in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft after a good junior season with Metallurg’s junior team, Stalnye Lisy. Despite skipping the scouting combine in Buffalo and not interviewing with the organization, he was selected 22nd overall by the Washington Capitals.
