An inmate was killed and two others injured following a stabbing at the same troubled Fulton County Jail where former president Donald Trump was recently booked and could be housed if convicted in Georgia.
Several stabbings were reported at the jail Thursday afternoon, with at least one person seriously injured, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said.
It is still unclear how the stabbing happened or how the other two inmates are doing.

Police believe the stabbing happened during a gang-related incident on the jail’s seventh floor, FOX 5 reported.
The prison has drawn national attention after the US Department of Justice opened an investigation into the death of LaShawn Thompson, an inmate whose body was found “eaten alive by bugs” in 2022.
Thompson, who only spent about three months in jail following his arrest on a misdemeanor charge of simple battery, was housed in a decrepit cell in a psychiatric wing with his body covered in feces and insects.
His family won a $4 million settlement earlier this year.

Along with Thursday’s stabbing, nine inmates have died in prison so far this year, with five of those deaths occurring in the past month.
The prison’s shocking record drew criticism from Trump last week after the former president was arrested and briefly booked into jail on charges of illegally trying to overturn the results of Georgia’s 2020 election.
“It’s violent. The building collapsed. Prisoners have dug their fingers into the collapsed walls and ripped off chunks to form over 1,000 shanks,” Trump claimed in a fundraising email to supporters last Friday. “It’s worse than you can imagine. This year alone, 7 prisoners have died in the prison.
“Seeing the third world conditions of those prisons made me even more determined to run for President and save our country from eternal decline,” added Trump.

Trump, a notorious germaphobe, could see the dilapidated prison become his new home if he is convicted of any of the 13 charges against him.
Along with the reported appalling conditions at the prison, the DOJ is also investigating violence on the premises, potential discrimination against individuals with disabilities, health care access and other alleged violations.
