An Iowa family has been reunited with their grandparents’ wedding photos after nearly 16 years.
Hope Tompkins was scrolling through Facebook when she saw an old photo of her grandparents.
It was posted by the City of Parkersburg’s Facebook page on Jan. 22, where officials hope someone will recognize the couple among artifacts they have from the 2008 tornado that hit the city.
“That’s my Grandpa and Grandma,” Tompkins replied less than 15 minutes later.
The photo features Tompkins’ grandparents, Raymond and Maxine Randall.
In the memorial, Raymond wore a World War II military uniform, having served in part of the D-Day invasion in Normandy, France, his daughter Marcia Mull told KGAN.
Mull is thrilled to have the photo back in his possession after losing it in 2008 after an EF5 tornado hit Parkersburg.

The Tomkins home is on highway 14 which was hit hard during the twister. When he and his mother returned to the site afterwards, they found they had lost everything, including the photo.
“We sat there and it was just … it was just devastating,” Mull told a local outlet.
The photo is among “thousands” of photographs and artifacts that the City of Parkersburg “reclaimed still have value,” Parkersburg City Administrator Christopher Luhring told the outlet.

“We have so many good stories in the last 16 years to release. It’s just great to ponder what that picture means. But to see the excitement and joy in the family getting him back is really cool,” he said.
The Post has reached out to Tomkins for comment.
