Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the oldest senator in the upper chamber, has been hospitalized after developing an infection, his office said Tuesday.
Grassley, 90, is expected to make a full recovery after receiving treatment for an infection at a Washington, DC-area hospital, a spokesman for the Iowa Republican told The Post.
The eight-term senator “received an antibiotic infusion at an area hospital to treat an infection,” his office said in a statement.
“He is in good spirits and will return to work as soon as possible according to doctor’s orders,” the statement said.
Grassley, who served six years in the House of Representatives before his 1980 election to the Senate, is the longest-serving Republican in congressional history.
