Iran’s foreign minister warned in an ominous tweet Wednesday morning that time was “running out” for Israel following an attack on a hospital in Gaza, as experts grew concerned about the possibility of a third world war.
Hossein Amir-Abdallahian shared the chilling message after hundreds of people died Tuesday in a missile attack on a Gaza City hospital, which Israel claimed was the result of a failed rocket launch by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group.
“After the terrible crimes of the Zionist regime in the bombing and massacre of more than 1,000 innocent women and children in hospitals, it is time for a global solidarity of humanity against this false regime more hated than ISIS and its killing machine,” Amir-Abdollahian tweeted.
“Time’s up!”
Iranian Embassy in Syria also tweet “the time is up” in Hebrew and Arabic.
The alarming message came just days after Amir-Abdollahian warned that a regional militia network dubbed the “axis of resistance” would open “multiple fronts” against Israel if it continued to kill civilians in Gaza.

“Time is running out,” Amir-Abdollahian said during a live televised interview with Iranian state television on Monday night, according to the New York Times.
“If war crimes against Palestine are not immediately stopped, various other fields will be opened and this is inevitable.”
The latest warning came just hours after Hamas accused Israel of killing more than 500 people in an airstrike on Al-Ahli Arab Hospital – which Israel denied, insisting it was the work of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group.

“An enemy rocket attack was directed at Israel, which was passing around the hospital when it was hit,” IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said in a statement.
“According to the intelligence information, from several sources we have, the GAP organization is responsible for the failure of the shooting that hit the hospital.”
However, Iran was also quick to condemn Israel for the attack, with Nasser Kan’ani, the foreign ministry spokesman, calling it a “brutal war crime” and an example of “genocide.”

He accused Israel of committing “brutal and horrific crimes,” and said in a statement: “The Israeli Zionist regime has once again exposed its barbarity and inhumanity to the world and proved that it has not the slightest adherence to the principles and rules of international law during war. “
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameni also suggested Israeli officials “should be tried for their crimes.”
The Iranian threat has led some to worry that if Iran escalates the war in Gaza, it could even draw Russia into the conflict — creating the potential for World War III.

Russian officials have already spoken out against the hospital attack, with Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign ministry, saying that Israel must provide satellite images to prove it was not involved, according to the Mail.
“So far, Russia and China have been relatively restrained in their open statements, but if Iran is directly involved, Russia will likely feel compelled to support it as Iran provides significant supplies of missiles and UAVs and training support to Russian forces in its forces. war against Ukraine,” Justin Bronk, a senior research fellow at London’s Royal United Services Institute, explained in an essay for the Mail.
Ray Dalio, the billionaire founder of Bridgewater Associates, who plays the role of financial historian, also warned that if the conflict spreads to “big countries, there will be a more terrible World War.
