Is Beyonce A Sellout? Twitter Sounds Off Amid Dubai Concert Backlash!

The “Beyhive” is buzzing for many reasons.

Beyonce recently held a private concert in Dubai to mark the opening of a luxury hotel: Atlantis The Royal.

The grand opening of the establishment was a star-studded and influential event.

Kendall Jenner and her tequila brand, 818, partnered with the hotel for the event.

Former One Direction singer Liam Payne and “Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo were also in attendance.

“Pitch Perfect” star Rebel Wilson and his girlfriend, Ramona Agruma, were also on the exclusive guest list.

Beyonce was paid a reported $24 million to hold a 1,500-seat private concert.

Dubai is notoriously anti-LGBTQ and against same-sex marriage.

Beyonce Paid $24 Million For Atlantis Performance

follow BBCDubai is part of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a Middle Eastern country made up of seven provinces with strict laws and regulations against homosexuality.

Since his latest album, “Renaissance,” is an ode to Black LGBT culture, many people were surprised that he agreed to perform in Dubai.

Following her performance, there was a lot of backlash from the LGBTQ+ community, with many labeling Bey a “seller” for the show.

However, it seems Twitter is split over the “Drunk In Love” singer’s decision to take his millions and perform.

Those Against Beyonce’s Sound Performance!

Twitter LIT Beyonce for apparently choosing money over her support for the LGBTQ+ community.

“Not only did he perform in a homophobic town, he also invited a rapist. Hayi there the politics are questioned. He benefits financially from being ‘pro black or pro LGBTQIA’ but his stance?” one person wrote.

“People need to realize whether #BeyonceInDubai @RebelWilson goes to Dubai or @MarkHamill likes #JKRowling’s tweets.. these people are not your friends, they are not on your side. Don’t put it on a pedestal,” said another.

Obviously, the multi-million dollar paycheck attached to a performance would make anyone who isn’t Beyonce jump at the chance, which is why so many are upset.

She’s already a multi-millionaire like her husband, Jay-Z, so it’s unlikely that $24 million check will make or break her family.

“Rich people only associate with each other. (Remember Ellen and George Q?) Of course Beyonce doesn’t *need* $24 million. But you don’t get rich by pushing money like that, and they don’t predict its origin. #BeyonceInDuabi #nomoralsinmoney,” one person tweeted.

But, as the old saying goes, “there are two sides to every story.”

On the other side of Twitter, people defended Beyonce’s choice to perform in Dubai.

There Are Two Sides To Every… Twitter Opinion

“Honestly, there is nothing wrong with Beyonce performing in Dubai and she has done nothing to harm LGBTQIA+… now comedy wise, everyone is anti something for $24Ms lol,” tweeted one fan.

“I love social media too much & it’s a performance rage. People want to be upset with Beyonce for performing in Dubai but are silent on their favorite artists/celebrities performing/visiting the country. This is the same person who attends racist circuit parties & eats at Chik-fil-A,” shared one upset Twitter user.

A Beyonce fan took to the platform to defend her and her Dubai fan wrote, “What’s wrong with performing in Dubai. Tel. As if there aren’t any Beyonce fans who want to see her in Dubai? Or there are no freaks in Dubai who are fans of these artists and want to see them. Do we cancel the country now? There are two good people there.”

Explosion wanted to know what you thought about Beyonce’s recent performance in Dubai. Do you think he’s a sellout for doing the show, or do you agree that a paycheck is a paycheck and he just got his coin?
