In an interview, when asked about the role of a father in the Bollywood film Janhit Mein Jaari, Ishtiyak revealed that he was initially unsure about playing the role, but he later accepted the offer and said,

I play the role of Nushrratt Bharuccha’s father who owns a lingerie business. When this role was offered to me, I thought there was some misunderstanding about how I would look like his father but then director Jai Basantu and writer Raaj Shandilya explained to me the character graph. Casting director Parag also said I was perfect for the role, so I started preparing for the same.”

In February 2018, Ishtiyak Khan made his television debut with the show “Har Shaakh Pe Ullu Baithaa Hai” where he played the role of Puttan on StarPlus. In 2022, he appeared in the show Hasi Ka Hahakaar on The Q.

Since childhood, Ishtiyak Khan aspired to become an actor. During his school days, he participated in many theater and drama competitions. Ishtiyak performed in several plays for the Anveshan Theater Group in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. After graduating from the National School of Drama, he moved to Mumbai to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. In 1989, he joined the theater group, Indian People’s Theater Association (IPTA) in Juhu, Mumbai. Ishtiyak presented his first street play Gili Gili Fu, directed by Devesh Mishra. His first stage show was Ek Tha Gadha Urf Aladad Khan, directed by Satish Sharma.
