The US government’s efforts to free the remaining American hostages in the Gaza Strip are accelerating ahead of Israel’s ground invasion of the area, the Washington Post reported.
Judith and Natalie Raanan, both from Illinois, were released on Friday, but 10 Americans remain unaccounted for – although not all of them are believed to be hostages, the outlet said.
Those involved fear further talks involving the State Department, the FBI and the intelligence community, and that mediators in Qatar could be threatened once the Israel Defense Forces invade Gaza.
When asked Friday if the IDF should delay its ground invasion to allow more hostages to be freed, President Biden said “yes,” according to the Post.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Judith and Natalie are pictured in heartwarming photos shared on Facebook reuniting with relatives they were visiting in Israel at the time of their abduction.
