Israeli hostage Mia Schem reveals only reason Hamas captor didn’t rape her during 54 hellish days

A 21-year-old French tattoo artist kidnapped and maimed by Hamas terrorists says he’s convinced there’s only one reason he wasn’t raped by his captors during his 54 days in custody.

“His wife is outside the room with the children,” said freed hostage Mia Schem during a newly released interview on Israeli TV. “That’s the only reason he didn’t rape me.”

Schem, who has dual citizenship of Israel and France, said his torturers kept him in a dark room under constant surveillance for most of his time in Gaza.

He said he was starving and taunted by the terrorist’s family while wondering if he would be killed at any moment.

“[I was] closed in a dark room, not allowed to speak, not allowed to be seen, heard, hidden,” Schem told Israel’s Channel 13. “There are terrorists watching you 24/7, watching, raping you with their eyes.

“There’s the fear of being raped, there’s the fear of dying,” said Schem, sometimes crying as she recounted the ordeal. “His wife hates the fact that she and I are in the same room. You feel like you want a hug, you know, woman to woman, to break it up a little bit.

“That’s all you have there. But he is very evil, he has an evil eye.”

Schem was among more than 200 Israelis taken hostage during the October 7 sneak attack by radical militants Hamas, which killed more than 1,200 people in the attack.

He was attending the Nova music festival near the border with the Gaza Strip when violent terrorists attacked and chased young Israeli festival-goers. The 21-year-old was shot in the arm during the invasion.

Schem said he tried to flee, but said terrorists shot at his car and set it on fire, leaving him with only two options at the time.

“It was a split-second decision, either to stay and burn to death or go with him,” he said.

He was pulled into a pickup truck and taken to Gaza, where he had a temporary splint placed on his injured arm. He was then taken to a Palestinian home and taken prisoner.

At times Israeli bombs from counterattacks by the Jewish State shook the house, and even broke windows at one point, he said in a television interview.

“I thought, ‘If I don’t die on the seventh day [of October] I’m going to die now,’” Schem said, but added that, “I trust the military.”

In November, he was one of the hostages released during a brief truce – but says he still bears the scars of nightmares and the humiliation of those who took his freedom.

“It is important for me to convey the truth about the nature of the people living in Gaza, who they really are and what I experienced there,” he said in an interview.

“It’s important to you that the world understands, what? That I have been through the holocaust,” added Schem. “Everyone there is a terrorist.”
