Israel’s military said it killed four people who tried to cross the border fence with Lebanon and set off explosives on Tuesday, as violence sparked by the war between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas rumbled along the border.
The Israeli military statement did not say where the incident took place.
The heavily armed, Iran-backed Hezbollah group has been trading with Israeli forces along the border almost daily, in the most serious escalation at the border since the 17-year-old war.

The Israeli army also said it received reports of “firing in the direction of the town of Metula”, without giving further details.
Security sources in Lebanon reported cross-border firing near Metula. Hezbollah’s al-Manar television reported a “massive Israeli attack” on Lebanese territory across the border from Metula.
