Issa Pointer had an early interest in music since she grew up in a musical home. Pointer grew up with the help of his mother and relatives. It was during the 1985 tour of the singing group The Pointer Sisters that he first became involved in music. He later worked on various songs with the band for several albums. In 2002, Issa took over the group’s founder Jun, who had quit due to drug issues and eventually fell ill. After two years, she took over as her aunt’s permanent replacement. Jun, his aunt, died of lung cancer in 2006.
The vocalist along with her mother and aunt Anita, the Pointers experienced a successful revival in Europe with their duet with Natalia Druyts singing ‘Sisters Are Doin’It for Themselves’. The song reached number two on the Belgian charts. At the age of 12, he made his musical debut on an album called Right Rhythm.
