The businesswoman shared in a post on social media that she was “saddened” by the septuagenarian’s death while highlighting her “strength” and “compassion.”
Ivanka wrote: “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Melania’s beloved mother, Amalija Knavs, an extraordinary woman who brought incredible joy and love into the lives of everyone around her.”

Amalija died on Tuesday night while hospitalized due to an undisclosed illness. Shortly after her death, the former first lady, Melania, used X, previously known as Twitter, to share the sad news and pay tribute to her mother.
“With deep sadness, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Amalija,” wrote Melania on the platform. She added, “Amalija Knavs is a strong woman who always carries herself with grace, warmth, and dignity.”

Amalija is survived by her husband, Viktor Knavs, their two daughters, Melania and Ines Knauss, and her grandson, Barron.
