On October 7, Hamas militants breached the border fence, allegedly killing more than fifty civilians and arresting many others.
Ivanka, via social media, shared a statement about her visit to Kibbutz Israel, stating that she was disappointed by what she saw.
“When I left Israel, my heart was filled with a mixture of sadness and hope,” Ivanka began. “Witnessing the aftermath of the October 7 terrorist attacks, I heard heartbreaking stories from victims, families, military and first responders.”

During their visit, Ivanka and Kushner heard stories from local residents who were forced to flee during the violence.
The Jerusalem Post reported that the pair “heard testimony from residents who lived in the community until the Hamas attack” and from “Border Police and IDF soldiers who were among those who helped save lives and eliminate infiltrating Hamas terrorists during their cross-border massacres.”
According to the publication, one of the former residents, Chen Kotler, told Ivanka and Kushner, “In this Kibbutz, there were 64 people killed, 19 kidnapped, many injured. But the most important thing is that the five hostages are still in custody in Gaza.”
Kotler reportedly presented Ivanka and Kushner with dog tags with the words, “Kfar Aza is my home,” and told the couple, “Hopefully, one day, I can host you in my home.”
“Thank you for sharing your story with us. I just have to say that I am very humbled to be with you, with the heroic actions you have taken,” Kushner reportedly said during his trip. “What you did made a big difference.”
