Former first daughter Ivanka Trump has resisted testifying in her father Donald Trump’s ongoing civil fraud case.
The lawyer for the former White House employee filed in court to throw out a subpoena compelling him to testify, as required by the New York Attorney General’s office.
In the filing, the lawyer made several allegations, one of which was that the Attorney General’s office had provided him with improper services. He also argued that he had previously been dismissed from the case.
Ivanka Trump’s Lawyers Argue She Was Treated Unfairly

According to reports, Ivanka is making moves to prevent herself from testifying against her father, Donald, and four Trump Organization executives, including her brothers, Donald Trump, Jr., and Eric Trump.
It comes after an appeals court dismissed Ivanka Trump from the case in June. At the time, the court ruled that the statute of limitations barred claims against him.
However, the New York Attorney General, who is in charge of the case, continues to issue subpoenas to several corporate entities linked to the former president’s daughter in an effort to get her back on the witness stand.
To fight the subpoena, Ivanka’s lawyer, Bennet J. Moskowitz, argued that the 41-year-old business mogul had been improperly served.
“Each of these three subpoenas lists Ms. Trump’s name only on the ‘to’ line above the name of the LLC and the name and address of their registered agent,” the lawyer said in the filing, per People In Business.
“The Subpoena Body requested a ‘personal appearance’ ‘to testify’ at the hearing but did not identify any specific employees, officers or directors that the NYAG wanted to appear,” he added.
Why Ivanka Trump Is Linked To A Fraud Case

In the filing, Ivanka’s lawyers also said that she had been dismissed from the case and that New York courts had no jurisdiction because she was no longer a resident of the state.
He went on to say that the attorney general’s office was “trying to force him back into this case” despite never removing him in the first place.
From all indications, Ivanka was linked to the fraud case because she served as the Trump Org’s executive vice president for development and acquisitions before she left the company for the White House in 2017.
Some of his accomplishments in that position include negotiating deals for the Old Post Office hotel project in Washington, DC, the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago and the Trump National Doral golf course in Miami, all of which totaled millions of dollars.
Donald Trump’s Other Children Expected to Testify

In the meantime, it is not clear which way the court will decide the case or when that will happen.
If Ivanka wins the legal battle, she will be excused from testifying in the case. However, Donald’s other sons, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., and himself will testify in the case as expected.
In the case, the attorney general’s office is suing the former president, his children and other business associates, alleging the company made hundreds of false statements that inflated the value of the Trump Organization’s assets to boost its net worth. They also mentioned that he did the act to get a more lucrative business deal.
The suit was filed against the organization in November 2022, after the office began an investigation in 2019 that included auditing the Trump organization’s financial statements between 2011 and 2021.

If Donald loses the case, he will face a range of penalties, including barring him from engaging in the acquisition of commercial real estate for five years after the verdict.
The attorney general’s office has also proposed to ban Donald Trump and his children from holding positions as officers or directors in any New York-based business. Additionally, the proposed penalty for the defendants is approximately $250 million.
Separately, the Trump Organization has faced convictions for tax fraud in separate cases filed by the Manhattan district attorney. In this case, the company was ordered to pay $1.6 million for a scheme in which executives received compensation through unreported personal expenses, including private school tuition, apartments and car leases.
