On Wednesday, TMZ caught up with J Balvin in Tarzana, asking, “I know you and Britney are friends. How proud are you of him? Revealing the truth in his new book?”

“I am very proud of him. I think he’s great,” he replied. “I think he deserves the best. I think she’s… it’s a woman we have to have a lot of love and respect for [for]. He fired the whole world at his peak and I can’t wait [for] him to bring new music. I think we really need him.”

When asked what advice she would give the pop star in handling negative reviews of her book, she replied, “I think she’s very strong. I think he is. He’s got the armor, you know, he knows, you know, what he’s doing and the last time I saw him, he looked like he was in a really good place in his mind to deal with everything.”

When asked about the “Bad Bunny” diss, the “La Canción” singer said she’s “all about love,” adding, “I’m all about love. That all. I like that guy.” When asked about new projects, he said he was working on “new music” but didn’t reveal more than that.

Britney Spears Finally Opens Up About Her 13-Year Conservancy in ‘The Woman In Me’

Fans already know that the Princess of Pop was subject to a controversial 13-year conservatorship, where her personal and financial affairs were largely controlled by her father, Jamie Spears. The memoir ran from February 2008 until it was finally struck down by a judge in November 2021. Reflecting on the conservatorship, Britney wrote about how she “became a robot” in a People magazine excerpt a week before the book’s release.

“I became a robot. But not just a robot – a kind of childish robot. I had become so childish that I had lost a piece of what made me feel like myself,” she wrote in her memoirs. “Conservation had stripped me of my femininity, made I was a child. I became more of an entity than a person on stage. I always felt the music in my bones and blood; they stole that from me.”

“This is what’s hard to explain, how quickly I can vacillate between being a little girl and being a teenager and being a woman, because of the way they’ve taken away my freedom. There was no way to behave like an adult, because they wouldn’t treat me like an adult, so I would step back and act like a little girl; but then my grown-up self would retreat — it was just my world that wouldn’t let me grow up,” she continued.

She also revealed where the title of the book came from, adding, “The woman in me was rejected for a long time. They want me to be wild on stage, as they say to me, and be a robot all the time. I feel like I’ve been stripped of the secrets of the good life — the cardinal sins of the pleasures and adventures that make us human. They want to remove that privilege and keep everything as rote as possible. It was death to my creativity as an artist.”

In an email interview with the magazine, Britney explained why it was so important to her to tell her story on her own terms. “For the past 15 years or so at the beginning of my career, I sat while people talked about me and told my story for me. After getting out of my conservatorship, I was finally free to tell my story without consequences from the people in charge of my life,” he wrote.

“The time has come for me to raise my voice and speak out. And my fans deserve to hear it straight from me. No more conspiracies, no more lies – only I own my past, present and future,” he added.

Britney Spears’ memoir “The Woman In Me” was officially released on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
