Career
Jack began his career as a drummer for the Detroit band Goober & the Peas at the age of 19 and remained in that position until the band disbanded in 1996. He learned about traveling and performing live. After the band broke up, he worked part-time as an upholsterer while moonlighting in a local band. He also performed solo. Jack and his wife Meg began their careers in Michigan’s underground garage rock music scene.
In 1998, Dave Buick signed The White Stripes to Italy Records, a small, independent Detroit-based garage punk label. The group was given the opportunity to release its eponymous first album in 1999, and a year later, the cult classic, De Stijl, was published. In 2001, the group released White Blood Cells. Jack has collaborated on several music albums. Elephant, Get Behind Me Satan, Seven Nation Army, Icky Thump(2007), and others are among them.
