Career
Jacob Markstrom started his hockey career with the small club Brynäs IF. He signed a two-year deal with the Brynäs IF Senior squad on 12 May 2008. During that time, he excelled in the Swedish Hockey League, and the World Junior competition, even representing Sweden at Under-18 level. The following month, he was drafted by the Florida Panthers for the 2008 NHL season. In addition, he became the Panthers’ youngest goaltender.
He also played for the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. He injured his knee during his first season in the AHL. Markstrom returned to South Florida following the procedure. He won his first NHL game on October 22, 2011, when he appeared in the third period against the New York Islanders and made 18 saves on 18 shots.
