“Saturday Night Live” viewers were surprised when Jafar, the iconic villain from the animated film “Aladdin,” made a special appearance — and a special announcement.
During the show’s “Weekend Update” segment, Jafar, played by Bowen Yang, spoke out against Florida governor Ron DeSantis because of the politician’s ongoing legal battle with The Walt Disney Company.
DeSantis v. Disney

Last year, Ron DeSantis signed legislation that canceled the Reedy Creek Improvement District, a local government entity, that targeted Disney World. He signed a bill governing the district and replacing the board with members appointed by DeSantis, and confirmed by the state Senate.
And on Thursday, Florida’s governor took another stab at Disney, “seeking to overturn an agreement approved by Disney to limit the authority of a board appointed by DeSantis to oversee its Florida theme park properties,” per Reuters. DeSantis continued his war against Disney, claiming he wanted to tax Disney World hotels and put tolls on the roads leading to the theme parks.
The governor also signed the controversial “Parental Rights in Education” bill, also known as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which prohibits public school teachers from teaching in the classroom about sexual orientation or gender identity.

Bowen Yang, dressed as Jafar, came to “Weekend Update” to address the ongoing battle between Ron DeSantis and The Walt Disney Company. The first called DeSantis an “amateur” villain, before adding, “He’s got no rizz, no splash, no drip ― apparently giving the mayor a baby. I mean, he does wear those white cowboy boots, but let’s be honest, they wear them, ” he said when the show showed a picture of DeSantis wearing the cowboy boots that Yang was referring to.
The Disney Villain went on to call out the Governor of Florida for banning certain topics in schools, saying, “Don’t get me wrong the boy is so mean, I mean ban Rosa Parks in school, I’m a dark witch and so am I. like ‘Jesus that friend is Rosa Parks’.”
The segment then moved on to discuss Disney’s stance on DeSantis’ “Don’t Say Gay” bill, to which Yang said, “If the boy thinks he can [prevent] Disney World instead of being gay, the rug has flown,” added with a wry laugh. “I mean, if you open Grinder on Main Street, USA your phone explodes.”
Jafar then comes out as gay, exclaiming, “Of course, I’m gay, you fool! My waist is grazed, my eyeliner is right on my eyes, my final form is a hulking genie with beautiful hooves and a tall micro pony.”

“Don’t say gay? Well, if there are no gays, there is no Disney,” said Jafar, played by Yang. “And everyone loves Disney including you because you idiot* got married there.”

“Bravo for trying to seize our precious land only to be thwarted once again by the House of Mouse,” Bowen, dressed as Jafar, went on to say on “Saturday Night Live”.
