Jagged Mind, the new gay psychological thriller from Hulu, will be available just in time for Pride. Kelley Kali’s latest horror film will be available exclusively on Hulu on Thursday, June 15, at 12:00 PM ET. The Hulu thriller, based on Kali’s short film First Date, tells the story of a woman who gets caught in a time loop after meeting a strange new lover.
Hulu has announced that after its international premiere at the American Black Film Festival in Miami Beach on June 14-18, the film will be released on Hulu’s streaming platform on June 15. It will then be available on Disney+ globally at a later date.
Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Shannon Woodward will play the main characters in Jagged Mind.
Jagged Mind follows Billie, who is suddenly besieged by strange images and blackouts and quickly realizes she is trapped in a series of time loops. Although he doesn’t know what has happened to turn his life upside down, it’s likely that the time loop is tied to his enigmatic new girlfriend, Alex.

“When Billie starts dating a mysterious new girlfriend, she experiences blackouts and strange visions that make her feel like she’s reliving a similar moment in her life.”
Billie is played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers, while Alex, his mysterious new girlfriend, is played by Shannon Woodward. Richardson-Sellers is a black British actress best known for her recurring role as Eva Sinclair on The CW’s The Originals and her appearance on ABC’s Of Kings and Prophets. He is also a regular on The CW’s superhero show, Legends of Tomorrow. Shannon Woodward is an American actress best known for her appearances as Sabrina Collins on Raising Hope on FOX and Elsie Hughes on Westworld on HBO.
Jagged Mind was created by 20th Digital Studio, with executive producers David Worthen Brooks, Arbi Pedrossian, and Jenna Cavelle. Daniela Ruiz produced it through her firm Palabra Productions, with Kali and Congyu E serving as co-producers. The film was directed by Kelley Kali and based on a screenplay written by Allyson Morgan.

Hulu has published a handful of first-look photos for the film, but they haven’t revealed anything about the narrative. The images are mostly close-ups of the main protagonists, Billie and Alex, with menacing black lighting. The background, with hints of red and purple, contributes to the creepy psychological horror atmosphere. According to the teasers, the Hulu thriller looks interesting, thanks to the excellent performances of the two main characters, as well as a riveting narrative and mature direction.
