British actress Jameela Jamil has slammed several “famous feminist” celebrities for going to the 2023 Met Gala, which is being held in honor of the late Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld.
Jamil appears to be showing a double standard with such celebrities, explaining that they are ready to celebrate the late fashion icon and “happily ignore” his “cruel” opinions, however, calling for the cancellation of others whose views he disagrees with.
The actress previously slammed the decision to honor Lagerfeld, who died in February 2019, suggesting that another designer should be honored instead.

The outspoken actress and activist, 37, is once again at the center of controversy. This time, to call out female celebrities attending the Met Gala, the annual star-studded event that is a fixture in the fashion calendar.
In a lengthy post he shared on Instagram, Jamil slammed the event for honoring the late fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, whom he described as “a famous fanatic.” He called out the female celebrities in attendance for allegedly colluding.
“Last night, Hollywood and fashion said their silent parts loudly when many famous feminists chose to celebrate at the highest level, a man who is so openly cruel to women, to people who are overweight, to immigrants, and to survivors of sexual assault, ” the post read.

The “Pitch Perfect” actor later slammed online viewers and other tabloids for choosing to “blissfully ignore”.
He continued, “No one has perfect morals, least of all me, but Jesus Christ, we’ve got a year to get it right here and not give the highest honor possible to a famous bigot … and everyone just decided out of the blue – suddenly we can separate the art from the artist when it’s *easy.*”
“And it’s one rule for us and another for everyone else. Last night we gave up our right to be taken seriously about anything important,” the actor concluded in the post.

Jamil captioned his post to explain his observations as he claimed a “selective cancellation culture” still exists in liberal politics while warning people to be cautious about the upcoming presidential election.
The former “Misery Index” host wrote, “This is not about void culture. This is not about Karl. This is about showing how selective the culture of cancellation is in liberal politics, in the most blatant way yet.”
He continued, “It’s about showing why people don’t trust liberals. Because of the slippery tactics and double standards like this. And it’s not just Hollywood here; the online public participated and was fully involved in erasing the truth last night.”
Jamil ended his post by saying, “They replaced their pitchforks with spoons last night to turn it right… If we keep this up, don’t be surprised when we lose the next election.”

During the last Oscars, Jamil made a splash by accusing certain celebrities of using weight loss injections to maintain their slim figure.
In an Instagram post she shared, the “She-Hulk” star called out an unnamed celebrity for using “unhealthy and unsustainable” means of losing weight as she looked at the “extreme” weight loss at the awards ceremony.
“Last image. But that method is not sustainable or usually maintained until the next awards season!” she said. “Where again the image of the ageless and weightless woman is used as an aspirational tool.”
Jamil said that he “loved so many clothes, and the people in them”; however, “it’s industry pressure and the result of a damn small sample of designers straight off the runway from fashion month, which results in a forced uniform thinning, and a fear of wrinkles.”

Jamil expressed concern over the increased use of Ozempic, a prescription drug used to treat type 2 diabetes. The actor has been a vocal advocate for body positivity and has criticized the diet and weight loss industry for promoting dangerous and ineffective products in the past, per The Free.
In an Instagram post, he criticized the increasing use of drugs for weight loss, making them difficult to access for people with diabetes, and the unimaginable side effects.
“I have said what I said about the potential dangers of people using diabetes drugs for weight loss only. I fear for everyone in the next few years. Wealthy people buy this stuff over a prescription for more than $1,000. Real diabetics see deficiencies. It is now a mainstream craze in Hollywood,” wrote Jamil.
In the post, the former “Playing It Safe” host expressed concern that the trend will “end up the same way we’re told that opioids are safe,” with the actress noting that there is “little to no discussion of side effects in any advertising . online.”
“I am very concerned, but cannot change any of your minds because fatphobia is choking our generation,” he added.
