James Corden’s ‘Gavin & Stacey’ Co-Star Once Called Him Out

James Corden seems to have a history of being rude.

With the comedian in the spotlight following the backlash he received from a prominent New York-based restaurateur for being rude, stories from his past have come to light.

Apparently the host of the show was warned about his bad behavior by a good friend and co-star from the beginning of his fame.

James Corden’s Co-Star Warns Of ‘Annoying’ Attitude

Before Corden moved to the United States to become one of the powerhouses of late-night talk shows, he was quite the star in the United Kingdom for his hit show, “Gavin & Stacey.” The Hillingdon native starred in and co-wrote the critically acclaimed BBC sitcom alongside Ruth Jones, winning a BAFTA for her performance.

However, during his days of rising fame and becoming a household name, one of his “Gavin & Stacey” co-stars noticed his rude behavior and tried to warn him.

According to reports, actor Rob Brydon had to sit down with “The Late Late Show” host as things got out of hand. In a 2019 interview with The Independent, Brydon recalled the encounter. “

I’ve known him for a while – we met in a big comedy called Cruise of the Gods in about 2002. I’m in awe of him, even though he’s very young, very green – very provincial is how I’d describe him, unlike me at that age , Brydon said of his first meeting with Corden.

He described the 44-year-old as “such a talent” who was on a “roller coaster” and “lost a bit” as he tried to enjoy the fruits of his success. Explaining how Corden was getting out of control, Brydon told the publication, “He’s burning the candle at both ends, and being dirty and irritable. He’s in a washing machine getting beat up. I feel for him. And the press here is hoping and praying he’s going to fall flat on his back because that’s going to be a great story.”

That’s when actor Corden decided to step in and take the comedian to lunch in an attempt to set him straight. Worried about his friend’s career, Brydon decided to do the necessary and called Corden.

“I was sitting there thinking, ‘When am I going to bring this up?’ And I just said, ‘I don’t like hearing people say this, because that’s not someone I know. So you have to be careful.’ And he took it in spirit as it was intended.”

Corden himself has told the story of how Brydon helped straighten him out when he acted “spoiled and rude.”

Corden Tagged ‘Most Abusive’ Customer By Restaurant

Brydon’s intervention came to light after Corden was most often called out by restaurant owner Keith McNally for being mean to his staff. As we previously reported, the owner of popular restaurant Balthazar took to Instagram to slam the comedian, writing, “James Corden is a very talented comedian but a little Cretin. And the most abusive customer to my server Balthazar since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.”

McNally cited two occasions where Corden had crossed the line and been cruel to his staff. In one instance, the comedian threatened the manager that he would write a negative review. In another instance, he scolded the waiter for getting his order wrong.

McNally banned the “Cats” star from his restaurant. In a subsequent update, the restaurant owner checked that Corden called him to apologize profusely for his behavior. McNally declared he forgave the show’s host and gave him a second chance.

“Having charmed myself more than most, I am a firm believer in second chances,” he wrote. “Anyone who is gracious enough to apologize to a layabout like me (and my staff) does not deserve to be banned from anywhere. Especially Balthazar. So back to 5 & Dime, Jimmy Corden, Jimmy Corden. All is Forgiven.”

Days after the online controversy, the NYC restaurateur expressed regret over his rant against Corden. As The Blast reported, McNally, in an Instagram post, admitted she “feels weird about the James Corden thing.” He stated he felt “very sorry” for the “Carpool Karaoke” host.
