James Corden’s Reason For Quitting ‘The Late Late Show’ Had To Do With Family

James Corden elaborated on his surprise exit from “The Late Late Show” months after dropping a bombshell on fans and following an embarrassing incident at a New York restaurant.

Earlier this year, the English comedian extended his contract for a year and is set to leave the award-winning talk show next year, before the summer. Now he has cited the reasons behind his decision in an interview, revealing that he wants to enjoy more cherished family moments with his wife, Julia Carey, and their three children, Max, Carey, and Charlotte.

Corden reportedly made plans to leave Los Angeles with his family and return to the United Kingdom to try to be more involved in his children’s lives. During an interview with The Times, he recalled fond memories from his childhood while mentioning his desire not to miss the early years with his own children, hence his resignation. He shared:

“We had to cancel the summer holidays last year [because of work clashes]and when I told Max, he looked really sad.”

This made the “Cinderella” actress suddenly realize that she only has about six more summers with her kids before they start hanging out more with their partners. He knew he couldn’t miss anymore, so he stopped.

Corden also talked about the backlash he received from Keith McNally, the British owner of Balthazar, an upscale New York restaurant. McNally claimed in several scathing social media posts that the TV producer criticized his attendant on two separate occasions, leading him to plan to ’86’ ban Corden from his establishment.

Reflecting on the hostile response, the “Peter Rabbit” actor described it as the “most surreal” moment that “it’s so odd” he now doesn’t read anything about himself online. He also denied ever shouting or swearing at anyone, as he insisted on not using abusive language.

Corden later said of the “bad stories” circulating about him: “I just stopped reading them. I just won’t do it. I didn’t google it myself; I didn’t read anything about myself.”

Earlier in April – months before the drama involving the TV host and a New York restaurant – she announced her leave from “The Late Late Show”, calling it a “very difficult” decision. The Blast noted that he took some time to figure out how much longer he would be at CBS before extending his one-year contract.

Corden has hosted the much-loved program for nearly a decade after replacing Craig Ferguson in 2014 and making his debut on March 23, 2015. At the time, he was not well-known in America but was well-known in the UK for co-writing and starring in the BBC show “Gavin & Stacey. ”

That changed in no time when he revamped “The Late Late Show” so well to include some viral segments like “Carpool Karaoke, Drop the Mic, Spill Your Guts and Crosswalk Musical.” This garnered a lot of traffic for the program’s YouTube account, giving it more recognition than many other late-night creations.

Corden’s accomplishments didn’t go unnoticed as the contestants tried to retain him by offering various offers, including a two- to three-year extension. Nevertheless, he made the final decision to step down and issued a statement shortly afterwards that read:

Corden recently clarified that he allegedly berated staff at the Balthazar restaurant in New York City. The Blast shared that he took to an episode of his late-night show to recount the events leading up to the lawsuit, which all started with his wife’s food allergies.

He revealed that the restaurant waiter made the mistake of serving his wife a dish she was allergic to and returned with the wrong dish twice when corrected. This upset the CBS star, prompting him to make a “sarcastic, rude comment” about preparing the meal himself.

He admitted that he “deeply” regretted his actions and later told the New York Times that he had done nothing wrong because he was not violent or crazy towards anyone involved.
