James Gunn has clarified that the “young Superman” rumors are false. He recently took to Threads to explain why he changed the cast of Superman from Henry Cavill to David Corenswet. There are claims that the director switched actors because he wanted a younger Superman.
On Threads, a fan asked Gunn if a future “Young Superman movie” was set in the past. He replied, “I never did a ‘young Superman’ movie, only a Superman movie!” Many Superman fans assumed the director change was for a younger actor due to a Twitter post from December 2022.
The tweet was about the next Superman movie, which will be Corenswet’s first appearance as a superhero. It read, “Initially, our story will focus on the early part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill.”
