Pop star Britney Spears is still not ready to reconcile with her father, Jamie Spears, who acted as conservator for most of the court-ordered conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021.
In her latest legal filing, Jamie Spears claims that a global settlement in her dispute with her daughter is unlikely and does not want the upcoming trial to proceed due to a lack of settlement at mediation later this month.

In court documents obtained by The Blast on Wednesday, February 7, Jamie accused Britney of using stall tactics to cause the delay. “There is no reason to stay any part of the case (as the Court acknowledged at the January 5, 2024 hearing) and certainly no basis to withhold briefing or any other activity that is in any way related to Jamie’s pending summary judgment motion. for hearing on April 12, 2024,” the document reads.
“The parties have months (indeed, years) to discuss a settlement. They haven’t settled yet. Imposing an adjournment simply because there is a meditation on February 23, 2024 seems certain to result in the trial continuing if the parties do not complete mediation,” the filing added, noting that Jamie filed his Petition for an Order Allowing and Approving the Payment of Compensation to the Conservator and Attorney for the Conservator and Cost Reimbursement on 26 March 2021 – two and a half years ago. The petition should be resolved at a June 2024 hearing.

In her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” Britney made several accusations against her father, including when she claimed that he told her “I’m Britney Spears now.” In her book, she wrote about how her father considered her “too sick to choose my own boyfriend but somehow healthy enough to appear on sitcoms and morning shows, and perform for thousands of people in different parts of the world every week.”
She said that her father “repeatedly” told her that she “looked fat,” writing, “If I think being criticized about my body in the press is bad, it hurts more than my own father.”
“Feeling like you’re never good enough is a soul-crushing situation for a child,” she continued. “He passed that message on to me as a girl, and even after I had accomplished so much, he continued to do so to me.” He goes on to say that he feels like a “robot child” because of what his father went through.

“This is what’s hard to explain, how quickly I can vacillate between being a little girl and being a teenager and being a woman, because of the way they’ve taken away my freedom. There was no way to behave like an adult, because they wouldn’t treat me like an adult, so I would step back and act like a little girl; but then my grown-up self would retreat — it’s just my world that wouldn’t let me grow up,” he added.
