“So, friends, I have something personal that I want to share. I have been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and have started chemo,” the caption began.
Fonda reassured fans that this form of cancer is very treatable.
“This is a very treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky. I’m also lucky that I have health insurance and access to the best doctors and treatments. Jane Has Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Fonda has long been a social movement activist and political activist.
“We also need to talk more not only about the cure but about the cause so that we can eradicate it. For example, people need to know that fossil fuels cause cancer. So are pesticides, mostly based on fossil fuels, like mine. I did 6 months of chemo and handled the treatment well and, believe me, I will not let any of this interfere with my climate activism,” Fonda wrote. “Cancer is a teacher and I pay attention to the lessons it holds for me. One thing that has been shown to me is the importance of community. Growing and deepening the community so that we are not alone. And cancer, along with my age — almost 85 — certainly taught the importance of adapting to new realities.”
