Janelle Monáe Teases New Music Project: ‘I Have A Lot To Say’

Janelle Monáe has more music to share with the world following the conclusion of her latest project, the American 2022 mystery, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.”

In a recent appearance with co-star Edward Norton on “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” the versatile artist hinted that a new music project may be in the works as she finally found the perfect inspiration after the pandemic.

Speaking with the show’s host, Jenna Bush Hager, the activist was asked when fans should expect “new music” from her given the conclusion of her latest film. In response to the question, Monáe said:

“You know what? I’m so inspired. I’m in a wonderful place. After shooting this movie, I feel like I’m having a little drought in the epidemic.”

Hager agreed before the 37-year-old admitted that he didn’t know what he wanted to say; however, after traveling and connecting with inspiring people, she began to feel “more present.” “I have a lot to say musically,” he added, after which he said, “So we’ll see” – in a singsong voice.

As seen in an Instagram reel posted on the show’s official page, the “We Are Young” singer looked dapper in a stylish black and white ensemble, complimenting her golden hair.

Following his revelation, fellow “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” star Norton praised him, calling him the “David Bowie of our crowd” before listing his outstanding skills in entertainment. He said:

“You know, she’s an actress, she’s an amazing musician, she embodies the character,” which Hager confirmed by describing Monáe as “really amazing.”

The 53-year-old later admitted that working with him on the 2022 mystery film was one of the best moments of the entire filming period. In his words, “Working with him, around him, that was really one of the highlights for me.” As for the happy post, it was captioned:

“@janellemonae gives an update on potential future music projects, and @edwardnortonofficial shares his appreciation for her as an artist and co-star during the filming of “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.”

Monáe’s news will certainly count as an added thrill for fans as she has previously delighted them by voicing her interest in taking on more “transformative” film roles in the future. According to The Blast, she was speaking at the London Film Festival, where she credited the acting resume of famous actor Johny Depp as an inspiration for her desire to play diverse roles.

The Hugo Award nominee told the crowd at the time: “When I think about a career, this person is an actor, his life is just an actor; Johnny Depp has had a very broad career.” Although his reference to the cast of “Pirates of the Caribbean” drew murmurs from the audience, he explained that the wide range of his film characters never ceases to inspire him.

The public reaction to Depp’s mention of his name may be justified as he has been the subject of controversy following the conclusion of a public defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. Monáe didn’t really care about the controversy at the time as she went on to list the number of roles the actress had played in the past.

‘The Memory Librarian’ Author Confirms He’s Non-Binary On ‘Red Table Talk’

Monáe has made several revelations in 2022, including confirming her sexuality as non-binary on Jada Pinket Smith’s “Red Table Talk” in April. The Blast reports that he has never publicly acknowledged his sexual identity as non-binary but instead chooses to promote the LGBTQ+ community in public speeches and on social media.

Even so, some fans may not be surprised by the news of her gender status, given the rumors that arose while she was supporting the community. On the show, the eight-time Grammy nominee declared, “I’m not binary. So, I don’t see myself as a woman or – only. You know, I feel all my energy.”

She added that her sexuality does not stop her from showing support to the women’s community in their fight against societal problems that disturb femininity. “I will always stand with women,” Monáe said. “I will always stand with black women, but I just see everything that I am outside of the binary.”
