Jasbir Jassi is a famous singer, lyricist and actor who mostly works in Punjabi film and music industry. He is known for his Punjabi folk melodies and lyrics with a pop twist. He has given various iconic Punjabi songs like ‘Koka,’ and ‘Dil Le Gayee Kudi’ to the Indian music industry. Jasbir has lent his voice to many famous Bollywood films including ‘Dobara’ (2004), ‘Patiala House’ (2011), and ‘Kesari’ (2019).

Jasbir Singh Bains was born on Saturday, 7 February 1970 (age 53 years; in 2023) in the village of Dalia Mirjanpur in Gurdaspur, Punjab.
According to Jasbir, he studied engineering for a year because his father wanted him to become an engineer; However, Jasbir, following his inclination towards music, dropped his studies in engineering midway. Later, he began to pursue a Master of Arts in Classical Vocal Music at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, Punjab, India; Jasbir once again stopped studying and started studying music under a teacher. According to him, he learned music from VS Jolly and Sufi singer Puran Shah Koti.

“Dil Le Gayee Kudi Gujarat Di” in Real
According to several sources, Jasbir Jassi met a girl from Gujarat, India at a national integration camp for youth from the border areas of India in 1989. Jassi, who hails from the border village, Dhalia, in Gurdaspur district of Punjab, and the girl from Bhuj in the Kutch region of Gujarat, slowly but surely formed a strong bond. The two fall in love over time; however, they did not end up together, and the girl married someone else. Reportedly, Jassi tracked down the girl in 1998. That same year, while on a trip to Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh with Punjabi singer Sham Bhateja, Jassi told Bhateja about her feelings and said ‘Dil Le Gayee Kudi Gujarat Di.’ Listening to this, Bhateja got the idea to compose a song after this line, which eventually brought Jassi fame.

In 1993, Jasbir Jassi released his album ‘Channa Ve Teri Channani.’ In 1998, his song ‘Dil Le Gayee Kudi Gujarat Di’ was released and brought Jassi to fame.
He has sung many popular songs including ‘Kudi Kudi’ (1999), ‘Nishani Pyar Di’ (2001), ‘Akh Mastani’ (2007), ‘Tere Bina’ (2020), ‘Lehnga Mehnga’ (2011) from the album Raunakan Vyah Diyan, and many more.

Jasbir Jassi made his debut in the Punjabi film industry with the film ‘Khushiyaan’ in 2011. He played the role of Raj Verma in the film.
