On 1 April 2023, a 33-year-old businessman, Gurbir Singh, filed a complaint against Jasneet Kaur at the Model Town police station in Ludhiana, Punjab for allegedly blackmailing her. In the complaint, he alleged that in November 2022, he received a WhatsApp call from an unknown number demanding Rs 2 crore and threatening to harm him and his family. On 4 April 2023, the Punjab Police arrested her for sending semi-nude and nude pictures to her Instagram followers and blackmailing them. His partner in crime, Lucky Sandhu, a youth Congress leader, has also been booked by the police. Later, the police revealed that Jasneet used to lure men by posting her indecent pictures and videos on her social media. He once engaged his followers in indecent conversations and then demanded ransom from them by threatening to release their conversations. In 2008, he was arrested in a similar extortion case in Mohali, Punjab.
