Jason Bateman appeared on “Good Morning America” to promote his upcoming new film, “Water,” starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Chris Tucker, Viola Davis, and others.
While speaking with the ABC host, Bateman revealed he was in a group chat with several of his co-stars and other castmates, including Matt Damon — though Damon wouldn’t let one particular person join him.
Who Is Not Allowed Into Wordle Group Chats?

On “Good Morning America,” Jason Bateman talked about what he does when he’s not on set — Wordle, which he said the interview interrupted his morning game.
“This interview has interrupted my morning session with him,” he joked. “It’ll hurt your brain. I have to be careful not to do it too early in the morning. Otherwise I’m down on myself. I have to get a handle on caffeine.”
Bateman isn’t the only actor who likes to play Wordle, revealing that he and several other actors also have group chats. “Matt Damon, Will Arnett, Bradley Cooper, myself, [Ben] Affleck tries to come in, but Matt [Damon] won’t let him in for some reason,” he said before the ABC host started laughing.

When asked who was Wordle’s best player, Bateman replied, “Sam Jones is in it too; he’s the best, i think. He is a documentary filmmaker.”
“Damon is great, Arnett is great, I die last every time,” Bateman admitted. “I have to be careful… I’m the one on the horse.”

The upcoming film “Air” (2023) will tell the true story of shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro (Matt Damon) and how he convinced Nike to partner with one of the greatest athletes of all time — Michael Jordan.
Alongside Damon, the film will star Ben Affleck as Phil Knight, Viola Davis as Deloris Jordan, Chris Tucker as Howard White, and Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser.
“Air” marks the first film from Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s new production company, Artists Equity, and while there are many roles in the film, there is one iconic role they did not fill — Michael Jordan.
“When you put a camera on an actor and say ‘Hey, this is Michael Jordan,’ and it’s not Michael Jordan, you’re going to lose the audience, so we know. Michael was too famous and meant too much to people to try to have someone else play him in a movie,” Matt Damon said of the reasoning behind the decision not to cast Michael Jordan.
Instead of having actors attempt to fill Jordan’s shoes, the upcoming film will show small clips of the athlete, still incorporating them into the film.
Despite not including Michael Jordan in the film, before producing the film, Ben Affleck flew to Florida to speak with Michael Jordan face-to-face — not only to get his blessing but to ask if there was anything in particular he wanted to see in the film that Jordan said two things — first, he wanted Viola Davis to play his mother in the film. Second, he wanted Howard White (played by Chris Tucker) in the movie.
“I certainly wouldn’t be comfortable promoting the film further by giving it Michael’s approval vote,” Affleck told Reuters. “I will tell you that every step has been taken along the way to make sure he has every option available to him because we respect him.”
